Buddy **1/2 Casper Kelly’s viral Adult Swim short film Too Many Cooks turned family-friendly sitcoms into the stuff of hallucinatory horror; in taking a similar creative approach to innocuous kids’ programming, he shows that feature length might not be the best fit for his vibe.
It opens with episodes of a circa-1999 live-action program called It’s Buddy , with several children—including Freddy (Delaney Quinn)—learning lessons from an orange unicorn named Buddy. And one of the lessons they’re about to learn is that Buddy may have a dark side.
