Describing itself as an “invitation-only spiritual fellowship” for people who seek “the freedom to explore without shame,” The Sanctuary was founded in 2025 by James Swensen and claims thousands of members. Sex-positivity is central to The Sanctuary’s theology.
“Poly people feel welcome,” Swensen said.
