Music venue profile: Mono Tape Club
New bar space adapts a Japanese concept to allow listening to music with intentionality.
Tucked in the Guadalupe neighborhood along the train tracks at 521 West and 500 N. is the newly-opened Mono Tape Club. The stereo listening room is a 21+ establishment that functions as a coffee shop and bar, offering tapes, records, coffee and drinks. Even though it has only been open since April 1, the club’s already attracted neighborhood regulars who have been looking for this type of space.
One of the joint-owners, Asher Seevinck, has been visiting Japan since 2017 and became obsessed with its culture.
