The 9th and 9th whale will soon be repainted with "Open Your Eyes,” a mural by artist Jiyoun Lee-Lodge. Salt Lake City On August 1—aka “801 Day”—Salt Lake City gave residents their first look at the future of one of the city’s most artistic landmarks. In the 9th and 9th Neighborhood, officials revealed the design for a new mural coming to “Out of the Blue,” the whimsical roundabout sculpture known by locals as “the Whale.”
The new artwork, titled “Open Your Eyes,” comes from Salt Lake County-based artist Jiyoun Lee-Lodge.
